Privacy, in plain words.

1. What this policy covers

This policy describes the Blu3Ink website at blu3ink.com and its connected learning app, including its Cloudflare-hosted address. Blu3Ink is an independent project created by an Ontario Grade 8 student. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@blu3ink.com.

2. Information we handle

• Account information: your account identifier, email address, and display name. Firebase Authentication manages your password or Google sign-in. Blu3Ink’s application database does not store your password.
• Learning information: the grade and writing goals you choose; assessment answers and results; lesson activity; daily tests; progress, rewards, streaks, and companion preferences.
• Writing and coaching: prompts, messages you submit, and AI responses. Signed-in conversations are stored so you can return to them. Text in the public prompt preview stays in page memory and is lost when the page reloads or you leave it.
• Technical information: our hosting and authentication providers receive information needed to deliver and protect their services, which may include IP addresses, browser and device details, request times, and error or security logs. The app also stores account-based request counters to limit misuse.
• Messages to us: your email address and anything you choose to include when you contact support.

Please avoid including addresses, phone numbers, school names, passwords, health details, or other sensitive information in writing prompts and messages.

3. How we use information

We use information to sign you in, provide lessons and coaching, tailor the experience to your selected grade and goals, save your work and progress, prevent misuse, troubleshoot problems, and respond to requests. Blu3Ink does not sell personal information or use your writing for targeted advertising.

AI coaching uses your submitted writing, relevant conversation context, and selected grade. Assessment responses may also be sent to AI to suggest a learning starting point. AI outputs can be inaccurate; avoid treating them as official academic evaluations.

4. Services that help Blu3Ink run

• Google Firebase Authentication provides account creation and sign-in. If you choose Google sign-in, Google also handles that sign-in process. Read Firebase’s privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Workers and D1 host the site and API and store application records and conversations. Cloudflare Workers AI processes the relevant text sent for coaching and placement. Read Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts supplies the fonts used in the site. Loading a font makes a request to Google, which receives technical request details such as your IP address. Read Google Fonts’ privacy information.

These providers process information under their own service terms and applicable privacy practices. Their processing may take place outside Ontario or Canada. We may also disclose information if required by law or when necessary to address misuse or protect the service and its users.

5. Cookies and device storage

Firebase uses browser storage to maintain your sign-in session and refresh authentication tokens. Google sign-in may use cookies or storage as part of Google’s sign-in flow. The current Blu3Ink app does not include advertising cookies or marketing analytics.

You can sign out, clear your browser’s site data, or restrict storage in your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out or stop account features from working. Clearing browser data does not delete records already stored on the server.

6. Students and families

Blu3Ink’s learning content is designed for Grades 7–12. Signed-in accounts are intended for students aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, do not create an account or submit personal information. Ask a parent or guardian to contact us first so we can discuss your situation before you use signed-in features.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to explore the public site with their student, review this policy, and discuss what is appropriate to share online. The app does not currently verify a student’s age or provide a separate parental-consent workflow. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate permission, please contact us so we can investigate and respond, including deleting the information where appropriate.

7. Storage, retention, and security

Account information is held in Firebase Authentication, while learning records and conversations are held in Cloudflare D1. The app checks authentication tokens and restricts application records to their account owner. Connections to the deployed service use HTTPS. No online service can promise complete security.

Saved account and learning data generally remain until deleted or until we remove them as part of operating the service. There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for all account data. Provider logs and backups may remain for their own retention periods. We cannot promise immediate deletion from every backup or where retention is required by law.

8. Your choices and requests

You can browse without signing in, choose whether to submit writing, and sign out at any time. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated information, email hello@blu3ink.com from the address associated with the account. A parent or guardian may also contact us about a child’s information.

We may ask for information needed to verify a request and protect the account. We will review requests and explain any limitations. Deleting a Firebase sign-in account alone does not necessarily remove saved application records; please request deletion of both your account and Blu3Ink data.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Blu3Ink develops. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be described on this page.
